Noura Belgravia (February 2013)

Despite the somewhat incongruous location of not-quite Belgravia/ the fringes of Victoria, a trip to Noura is definitely worthwhile. Both the food and the service were top notch. Our corner table afforded us a good view of the restaurant, which felt light and spacious, furnished in a contemporary fashion. Many tables were taken and yet there was no sense of intrusion from other diners with staff placing guests at a distance. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff either, bringing extra dishes/ drinks/ cutlery and all the items we ordered arrived promptly and with good presentation. The great beauty of Lebanese food is the choice and that most items come as small dishes, hence allowing for a wide range. While I have definitely eaten better hummus elsewhere (ours was surprisingly bland), the grilled halloumi was superb and even better was raw lamb, served with red onions and mint (akin to a Lebanese take on steak tartare). Our bottle of local Chateau Ksara white was also a successful food match. We departed full and satisfied.
